About this course

In MA Classics and Linguistics, you will combine the study of:

* ancient Greek language and literature

* linguistics and linguistic theory with a focus on the English language

The study of Greek will give you access to one of the world’s great literatures. You will read foundational texts of the western tradition in their original language, including:

* epics

* tragedy

* philosophy

* history

This will complement your studies in linguistics. You will have the opportunity to investigate linguistic structures in both a dead and a living language.

While the programme shares a common structure with MA Classics and English Language, from Year 2 there is a focus on linguistics courses.

Your final dissertation is taken in either classics or linguistics.
