About this course
Civil and Structural Engineering involves the design, construction and maintenance and repair infrastructure such as roads and bridges, buildings, and underground transport systems.
You’ll develop a broad knowledge of geotechnical, structural, environmental and management aspects of civil engineering, and gain the computing, mathematical, drawing and communication skills you need as an engineer.
On completion of the programme you’ll be able to enter a range of graduate civil engineering roles. Our employability rate is 97% - one of the highest in the UK. You’ll be joining a dynamic profession with a high demand for skilled graduates, and contribute to the prosperity of our society.
We also offer a 4-year MEng version of the programme. The additional academic year enables further study of the technical and managerial aspects of civil and structural engineering, and provides the fastest route to Chartered Engineer status.
Professional accreditation This degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) comprising the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Institute of Highway Engineers, and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation on behalf of the Engineering Council as:
1. Fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) 2. Partially satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng)
A programme of accredited Further Learning will be required to complete the educational base for CEng.
The degree is also recognised by ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education).
