About this course

Sustainable Development is at the heart of this course. Focusing on design and sustainability, this programme is grounded in technical modules covering waste, water, structural design, utilities, material and highways alongside wider project management skills. You will benefit from our academic research, professional experience and substantial industry links including input from leading professionals.

A dissertation will further enhance your research skills, building your specialist knowledge and industry links. Public or private sector graduate employment opportunities may be found in built environment disciplines or careers such as civil engineering, transportation, public health or environmental engineering, dealing key activities such as utilities, construction, design, infrastructure, sustainability, environmental and traffic impacts and waste management. International students may avail of the 2-year applied research option.

Recent graduates have found employment in the UK water sector, local consultancies, Australian engineering industries, Scottish local authorities, Irish county councils and in research posts. It also is a technical masters allowing those with an accredited IEng level degree access to the individual route to Chartered membership of 4 professional bodies: ICE, IStructE, CIHT and IHE.
