Children and Young People (Teaching Assistant)

The demand for highly qualified practitioners to work with children, young people and their families is rapidly increasing. The Children and Young People (Teaching Assistant) FdA Level 5 is awarded by the University of Derby and has been developed with sector employers and designed to help you to develop skills and knowledge to work within schools. All of the modules will directly relate to your working environment to help you to evaluate and understand practice in more depth.

As a University of Derby partner student, you will have access to the university’s virtual learning environment, including University of Derby Online (UDO) and online journals and texts, as well as library facilities.

Modules Include: Higher Education Study Skills Ethical Practice, Attitudes and Values Work Based Reflective Practice International Professional Working with Children and Young People Supporting Teaching and Learning The Curriculum 0-25 Research Methods and Practice Secondary Research Understanding Behaviour International Perspectives in Provision and Practice: Working with Children and Young People Children and Young People’s Family Rights Children and Young People’s Health and Wellbeing

You will also need to dedicate a substantial amount of time to research and work alongside attendance at the College.
