About this course

The demand for highly qualified practitioners to work with children, young people and their families is rapidly increasing. The Children and Young People (Early Years) FdA Level 5 is awarded by the University of Derby and has been developed with sector employers and designed to help you to develop skills and knowledge to support children. All of the modules will directly relate to your working environment to help you to evaluate and understand practice in more depth.

As a University of Derby partner student, you will have access to the university’s virtual learning environment, including University of Derby Online (UDO) and online journals and texts, as well as library facilities.

Modules Include: Higher Education Study Skills Early Years Provision and Practice Work Based Reflective Practice International Professional Working with Children and Young People Ethical Practice, Attitudes and Values Children Playing International Perspectives in Provision and Practice: Working With Children and Young People Understanding Behaviour Children and Young People's Health and Wellbeing Research Methods and Practice Children and Young People’s Family Rights Secondary Research

If you don’t have a licence to practice you can complete an additional portfolio over the two years of study to achieve Early Years with Practitioner Status.
