About this course

Why choose this course • Our business management courses give you the opportunity to explore how organisations of all sizes start, run and thrive.

• At Surrey Business School we inspire positive change in business and society, individuals and organisations, locally and globally by delivering impactful research and courses which promote a global and digital mindset for the future of business.

• You’ll have the option to take one of our award-winning Professional Training placements that will prepare you for roles in industry.

By combining this core business knowledge with specific expertise in human resource management on our BSc Business Management (Human Resource Management) (with Foundation Year) pathway, you will explore the human dimension of business and management – a complex but immensely exciting, rich and interdisciplinary area of knowledge.

What you will study Business organisations are reliant on people and, whichever career you choose, you will need to make sense of the behaviours of others in your workplace.

Our BSc (Hons) Business Management with Human Resource Management course offers a wide variety of modules on topics including organisational psychology, international aspects of people management, and employee relations, in addition to core business and management topics.

You’ll gain an overall view of human resource management and explore different ways to approach human resources. As well as having the opportunity to take further specialist pathway modules, you can also complement the core modules with electives from other pathways.

We’re always looking to make it easier to access the education we offer, so we have launched the option of taking a degree with a foundation year.

A foundation year is an extra year of study at the start of your course that leads in to a full degree programme. It’s a great option if:

• You don’t have the grades for a full degree course • You have non-traditional qualifications or experience • You’re starting university after some time away from education • You’re looking for more support during the transition into university study.

During a foundation year you’ll learn about your chosen subject, develop your study skills and get used to university life. On successful completion of your foundation year, you’ll be ready to progress to the first year of your degree course.

As a foundation year student, you’ll be a full student of the University and part of our community. You’ll have access to all our campus facilities and support.
