Why study MA Broadcast Journalism at GoldsmithsAs the world faces major political, economic and environmental upheavals, the MA in Broadcast Journalism offers a critical and global approach to journalism on air, on screen and online for a new generation of journalists. You will hit the ground running, learning about the different elements that make up the production of journalism, in our TV and audio studios, in the newsroom and in the field. You will get hands-on experience producing incisive, accurate, dynamic journalistic pieces across different beats, to industry standard, be it in short video formats, long-form podcasts with high production values, investigative documentaries and more. Traditional news, current affairs and magazine shows continue to serve huge swathes of global audiences - you will be trained to produce them. But you will also be taught how to rethink and often reversion their material to post on our live local news website, Eastlondonlines, reflecting the changing dynamics of broadcast media in the digital age. This Master's degree will be led by respected journalists, producers, filmmakers and scholars who have worked on major media outlets including the BBC and Al Jazeera English, The Independent, The Guardian in local, national and international journalism. Under their guidance, this programme will provide students with innovative and professional skills to prepare them for what is an increasingly competitive journalism landscape. Classes will be accompanied by a range of guest speakers from the industry offering students key connections for future job opportunities. Journalism is part of the Media, Communications and Cultural Studies School at Goldsmiths, home to some of the world's most groundbreaking theoretical work on the culture, history, politics and economics of the news media. This MA offers a unique combination of journalistic broadcast practice and an advanced academic study of it. Taught by experts in the field, this interdisciplinary approach offers an innovative postgraduate degree for those interested in a critically and politically minded form of broadcast journalism.
