University of WolverhamptonAbout this course
AI is playing an increasingly important role in all aspects of the modern world. From infrastructure and education to healthcare and climate change the importance of AI cannot be overemphasised. There is now a persistent demand for graduates from a variety of backgrounds who have the expertise and training needed to responsibly use AI technologies to combat some of the world’s greatest challenges. This course has been designed and developed by a team of experts to produce agile, flexible and dynamic graduates with the right blend of training, education and management skills to meet the demands of industry in a variety of areas.
This M.Sc. Artificial Intelligence is a conversion M.Sc. programme aimed at converting graduates from a broad range of disciplines into AI specialists. The distinctive nature of this course means that it appeals to students from a broad spectrum of academic backgrounds who may benefit from some additional assistance with areas outside of their previous area of study such as mathematics or programming. Prior to joining the course students are given an induction programme in mathematics and programming to equip them with the core skills needed to succeed. This induction programme will be available to students all year round and additional support with mathematics and programming will be provided as needed by the expert support team at the University.
As part of the course students will have the opportunity to apply to do a paid internship with one of our industry partners, a list which includes The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Transport for West Midlands. Industry partners will also support the programme by providing students with case studies based on real events and will provide their cloud training environment to allow modelling of real-world scenarios.
An important aim for this programme is to increase the number of people from groups currently underrepresented in the AI and Data Science fields, and to encourage graduates from diverse backgrounds to consider a future in these occupations. In support of this aim a number of scholarships of £10,000 are available to students enrolled on this course. This programme will prioritise scholarships for female, black and disabled students. All students who have a firm offer of a place six weeks before the course start date will be invited to fill out a scholarship application.
