About this course
This program is aimed to develop your understanding of biology and chemistry fundamentals such as how the human body functions in health and disease, an appreciation of healthcare systems and technologies, organic and inorganic chemistry, theoretical and practical application of analytical chemistry, and study how matter behaves at the atomic and molecular scale in physical chemistry. You will then learn about the immune system and develop microbiological techniques and discover the principles of biomedical science. This will ensure that you are well prepared to make a difference in the scientific industry. Students will develop skills for employability including good laboratory practice, good manufacturing practice, control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) assessments, health and safety policies including compliance to ISO9001 standard, Human Tissues Act, standardisation & calibration, and quality assurance. This will allow you to progress into employment in a wide range of employers (e.g. chemical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical). As part of our work ready guarantee completion of this course you will meet the criteria that will enable you to work towards Registered Scientist status. Key staff ensure they keep their industry experience up to date with industry visits and placements.
