Here at the University Campus North Lincolnshire we encompass a hands on practical and engaging theoretical and scientific approach to deliver our level 6 programme. This level 6 top up programme focuses on underpinning components that contribute to the overall welfare of animals in a range of settings and interactions. The programme provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience in our purpose specific laboratories and our educational setting animal unit which is home to over 70 species. Specific emphasis is given to the importance of animal welfare within the broader context of the animal sector including modules that relate to Herpetology, Exotic biology and physiology, Scientific approaches to health and welfare assessment, Companion animal behaviour and contemporary issues within the field of animal welfare science.
Students also gain valuable research skills through the production of a dissertation in a topic of their choice to facilitate own findings in an area of the animal welfare science sector.
This programme is particularly relevant to people already working in or looking to develop a career within the veterinary research sector, rescue and behavioural rehabilitation, herpetology and exotic care sector, zoological collections, animal nutrition sector, behaviour and welfare research and laboratory testing facilities as well as those that wish to progress to post graduate education or teaching.
