About this course

ABOUT THIS COURSE The Pearson BTEC Level 4 HNC in Animal Management provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the animal management sector and also offers specialist emphasis through the choice of specialist units. Alongside your classroom based sessions, you will also take part in enrichment opportunities. There will also be opportunities that take place further afield, for instance day trips to Chester Zoo.

KEY UNITS The Pearson BTEC Level 4 HNC in Animal Management provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the animal management sector and also offers specialist emphasis through the choice of specialist units.

Students can either study the HNC as a stand-alone one-year programme or after completion progress on to the HND Animal Management programme that is also offered at the college.

Course enrichment Alongside your classroom based sessions, you will also take part in enrichment opportunities. These may include activities at college, such as pond dipping, setting up bug hotels or maintaining the hedgehog hotels that have been established around campus.

There will also be opportunities that take place further afield, for instance day trips to Chester Zoo.

Learning hours As a guide, 15 credits typically represents around 39 hours of tutor contact time (e.g. lectures, seminars, workshops, feedback) and 110 hours of self-study time, usually over the course of a semester. These numbers may increase or decrease depending on the nature, length and level of the module, especially towards the end of the course.
