About this course

The overall aim of this course is to ensure graduates have a comprehensive engineering education combined with specialist knowledge of aerospace engineering recognised in the professional engineering community by an accredited degree. The first year of study is very much about mastering the underpinning engineering principles, accompanied by an introduction to airframes and aircraft propulsion, engine testing and design. Year two combines mechanical engineering topics, for example thermodynamics and the role of the engineer in society, with specialist topics that include control and aircraft systems, and airflow anaysis and simulation. The third year of study includes topics related to supersonic and subsonic aerodynamics, energy and sustainability and new and advanced engineering materials.
