Advanced Physiotherapy
Manchester Metropolitan UniversityAbout this course
Designed for qualified physiotherapists, this course gives you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and professional practice across a range of practical and theory-based modules. The course focuses heavily upon evidence-informed practice and developing a clinician’s critical thinking at masters level.
You’ll complete core modules of study that will equip you with the skills to design and then undertake a research project, quality improvement project, service evaluation or systematised literature review within a contemporary area of physiotherapy. Our two musculoskeletal core modules will develop your evidence-based practice skills of assessing, diagnosing, and treating musculoskeletal dysfunction.
As part of your studies, you’ll also choose option modules that can provide profession focused skillsets such as leadership, skills in Musculoskeletal Injection Therapy, or follow our First Contact Practitioner (FCP) training pathway.
Most study will take place on-campus. Our lecturers are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and many still work in professional practice alongside teaching. Our teaching team also includes researchers with expertise across a range of specialisms, including spinal dysfunctions, musculoskeletal and physical activity interventions.
If you are not ready to commit to a full-time or part-time masters, you can study some of the course’s modules as standalone
