About this course
Why study BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing at BU?
As well as acquiring knowledge from highly qualified and experienced lecturers and practitioners, you’ll focus throughout the course developing the core skills required to become a competent registered nurse in a rapidly changing and evolving health care setting. Our interactive learning facilities provide access to a full range of learning materials through our virtual learning environment which complements lectures and seminars as you develop your knowledge in key areas of nursing practice from Pathophysiology and medicines management to nursing assessment, communication skills and interprofessional working. Our simulation suites replicate a range of clinical and community environments and allow you to learn practical techniques in a safe and controlled setting.
For any nursing programme, placements are central to your learning where under the supervision of a practice supervisor (who will be a registered health professional) there is the opportunity to learn from practice and to implement your theoretical learning in practice.
We have a foundation year option for students who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree course. This additional year of study will give you a grounding in the scientific skills needed to prepare you for the Adult Nursing degree, building your confidence, knowledge and skills for further study. After successful completion of the foundation year, you will progress to the full degree and begin your Adult Nursing study.
The Foundation Year for Adult Nursing will be based at the Lansdowne Campus, Bournemouth.
Funding Support: Nursing students may be eligible for a non-repayable government training grant of at least £5,000 a year. Find out more information about the funding: https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/nhs-learning-support-fund. Please note that this funding is not eligible for students on the Foundation Year, however you will be able to access it once you complete the foundation year and move onto the degree.
