About this course
If you don’t achieve the necessary grades to enrol on to the BSc Accounting course, the BSc Accounting with a Foundation Year degree is for you.
The Foundation Year is an excellent pathway to gaining the required knowledge and skills in accounting before joining Year 1 students of the BSc Accounting degree within the School of Management.
If you want a career at one of the ‘big four’ accounting firms (Deloitte, EY, KPMG or PwC), or if see yourself as an in-house accountant for a government body, small or large business, not-for-profit organisation, or individual, the BSc Accounting degree will equip you with everything you need.
As an accountant, you will play a fundamental role in the running of a business, big or small. Managing budgets and taxes, financial reporting, completing audits - all are critical in ensuring that a business or organisation runs as effectively and successfully as possible.
The Foundation Year is taught at The College, located next to the School of Management. Once you complete this year, you will move to the School of Management building for the remainder of your studies.
The years following your Foundation Year are accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). This programme allows you to obtain professional exemptions whilst studying with us - a must for anyone who is serious about a career in accountancy.
